Bathroom Remodels

Bayside Custom Bathroom

The homeowner moved into a bayside home with a substandard master bathroom. She desired an ‘escape space’ that took on a seaside/grotto theme. All plumbing, electrical, ductwork & ventilation was replaced / upgraded. Design elements included: 3D porcelain wall tile, ceiling tile, pebble-tiled shower floor, dimmable LED illuminated wall niches, Jacuzzi tub, frosted glass barn door, double vanities with vessel sinks, custom shower glass panel & door, toilet closet & custom walk-in closet.

Original space

Increased functionality & storage space was desired. Drawer boxes were custom built & attached to the faux drawer fronts. Soft-close drawer slides were then installed.

Sapele & Slate Custom Bathroom

Location
Sandbridge, VA

Year
2017

The architect/designer specified a natural slate tile floor with white marble subway tile walls. The plan required custom built items including:

  • Hanging vanity with vessel sink & push to open drawers

  • Medicine cabinet with wrap around corner detail

  • Wall mirror with frosted glass section housing a dimmable light source

Originial Space

Design Note: The slate floor tile was utilized as base trim for the walls & shower. Additionally, all wall & base trim tile were installed recessed into the walls. This creates a clean, flush appearance as well as an aid in cleaning & maintenance.

The custom vanity was built using Sapele wood. We chose Sapele due to it’s appearance & resiliency. Rough hewn Sapele was sourced and these items, along with trim for the window & door frame, were hand milled / built in our shop. The vanity design included push-to-open drawers. The medicine cabinet was designed so the door ‘wrapped’ around the wall corner.

The water control was placed on the wall opposite the shower head.
